Pleasant Sounds
by Michael Leigh and Roger Stevens
The rustling of leaves when you walk in the cupboard
Turning the key to be met by a snail
Crows in the conglomeration of pink blobs
The crackling of logs at the picnic by moonlight
The school bell at three thirty
The crash of the ocean
The humming of knees as you stroll through the museum
The thwack of the cricket ball as the crowd starts jeering
The silence of blotting paper
Just beyond Bletchley

Oh dear, what's happend to poor old Jumbo - he seems to have lost his head. i think the naughty bunny is to blame.
I don't remember this? Honest!
This is from a book of nonsense poems that Michael and I wrote a few years back. We did a couple of books in fact - and I'm still trying to find a publisher for them. One - The Owl Ate the Pussycat, a book of alternate nursery rhymes - is fairly mainstream and I'm ever hopeful. The other, Yelling Pages, is a wee bit odd and I'm less hopeful. So, what better place than blogland to give the poems from that book an airing?
Watch this space for more.
Heaven forbid!
Hope the colds are better soon. How about a nice squeezed lemon?
Hold a cup underneath and catch the juice is a good idea. Add some bees honey (Wasp honey is really quite revolting!)
Stir with a swizzle stick, or swizzle with a stir stick - whichever is handier. Warm infront of a nightwatchman's glowing brassiere.
who made the illustration?

Hi Roger. I came up with a response to your moon hoax idea that you put in a comment on my blog. I'm mentioning it here because in case you're interested in it you will have to look for your name in the comments, which is about a mile long now. My response follows yours.
That Amie's a bit repetitive isn't she?
Thanks, Stan.
Hi, Amie. The book is collage. So all the illustrations are collaged, from old children's annuals, allsorts - and the poems were collaged, too. Mainly from old nursery rhymes with random words stuck over.
Some more coming up soon.
Anonymous...not meant to be repetitive...as roger probably knows. something got stuck (uh my fingers on the keyboard?).
It happens to me all the time.

Collage you say, Roger?
I never went to collage, but I did finish high school. Then I learnt how ta cut and paste picture'z an now I think that a collage edgy cayshun is highly over rated.
I like!!! And am taking note!
