Present

Remember
When Mickey, our mouse,
Brought us a little
Present
And left it on the doorstep?

A dead cat

Still in cat mode. The best of these "cat brings in a present" poems must be Jan Dean's. But it has become a bit of a poetry cliche. Hence this poem. And... er... apologies to cat lovers...

We had a cat once that used to leave us dead fleas on the doorstep.

I suppose that's poetic justice, although the cats appear to be plotting in the corner quils poised

I very much dote on cats but surely that's just Karma. I'd frequently step out my front door and discover what can only be described as the Hugh Place Chainsaw Massacre.
