Dance, Dance

Dance, dance, wherever you may be
I am the Lord of the Dark Settee
And I'll bounce on you
And you can bounce on me
And we'll both sit down
And watch TV

A few years ago Michael and I wrote a whole load of poems based around nursery rhymes. Originally they were written using collage techniques. But we refined a few for a book to be called The Owl Ate the Pussycat which Michael illustrated. I'll be posting a few over the next few weeks.

The poetry is par excellence but the artwork rather poor. Of course should you tell Michael this, I will deny having said it!

Are you being amusing? Michael will read ths and be upset. You will upset him. He's a very sensitive soul you know. I think the artwork is rather splendid.

C.J. is absolutely right - this is one of my worst drawings ever - I must have been pissed when I did it! ( he says choking back the tears ).

I think you should give Matthew Holter a credit for this poem. It was he who, as a child, thought those first few lines were the actual words to the song Lord of the Dance - and he had a very interesting story about visiting relatives who were nuns to explain it.

Okay, alright. The truth is am envious as I wish I could draw with such skill. I really like the way the cushions form mirrored 'U's'!

Yes. That is indeed where the poem came from.

Who are you freshkidturnedrotten? Give us a clue. Because you may be right. Jon's mum thinks it was Jon and not Matt.
