Race in Provence

Each step I take
on the dried-out grass
releases a dozen grasshoppers
like a starting gun
in the run-every-way-at-once race.

I'm still on my hols actually. Staying at my in-laws for the last few days, and having a quick sneak at the blog when I should be outside enjoying the sun.
We get back early next week. I'll be checking y'all out then. Meanwhile here are a couple of poems. One written on the way south when we stayed with some old friends who are renovating a big old house and setting up a Bed and Breakfast. The other written in Provence.

See you soon.

Au revoir.

Bon jour
We had a similiar experience in Marbury..walking through the grass sent out a cloud of daddy long legs...which blundered around in front of us...not as poetic as grass hoppers..but more comical. They fly like helicopter pilots who are reading athe manual upside down.
GET OUT SIDE AND ENJOY THAT SUN...

Just heard on the North west news that there is a plague of daddy long-legs (crane fly) up here. I can belive it - two crashing about in my lampshade last night! I had to scoop them up in a plastic beaker and deposit the gangly ones outside. Its all go!

The comments in your comment section are mounting up along with the expectation. (hushed voices on the blog airwaves are whispering 'Roger's back, Roger's back, where is his latest post. Where is his latest poem?'). So then tell, about France and Provence and about the swiftly disappearing tan that you both have and about the various bottles of delicious wine that you have drunk. C'mon man, your audience awaits.

You're so kind CJ. Provence was particularly fine. I wonder if we passed one another without realising it? Maybe you and your family were sitting on the next table.
It all seems to so ong ago now.
Where's the sun gone? That's what I want to know.

The Sun? Why it is over there, thataway.
